We Don't Say I Love You Anymore

Memories of bungalow stays, class outings, guitar sessions, foggy late nights and the soothing sounds of gentle waves lapping the shore. Maybe the reality was not that great, but the incessant latent hope and promise were there, like the beacon of moving rays from the lighthouse, literally standing there not far from a sand-swept camp or circle of mates. I cannot recall how and what we ate, but I can never forget the comaradarie, the jokes, the delight of breaking what are now insignificant rules and conventions and most especially, the lyrics of apparently silly songs like this:

We don't walk along the beach at night

And talk the way we used to talk

And look into each other's eyes

After counting all the stars above

And after all this time I know

Sometimes you've felt like letting go

'Cause even when we're all alone

One of us is somewhere else

Maybe I never took the time to say

All these feelings locked inside of me

But if you think that I don't care for you

The way I did before

It doesn't mean that I don't love you

When we don't say I love you anymore

We don't spend our nights by candlelight

Dancing to our favorite songs

And wake up in the morning sun

As I hold you softly in my arms

And after all this time I found

What makes it special in my mind

Is that you were always my best friend

And the dreams we shared are still alive

Maybe I never took the time to say

All these feelings locked inside of me

And if you think that I don't care for you

The way I did before

It doesn't mean that I don't love you

When we don't say I love you anymore
